nExt.stop: Ilocos La Paz Sand Dunes (Laoag City)

La Paz Sand Dunes Laoag City

ILOCOS... ok... so me and my friends from work decided to take a break and hit the road and went to ilocos early this year... we planned to conquer the ilocos norte... luckily i am quite familiar with the place since my company took me there before for an assignment 5 months ago so no worries on how to get there... we prepared our lenses for a relaxing trip to the vintage province of ilocos...

Our first stop was the La Paz sand dunes in Laoag City... we hit the road at 11pm from manila and get there around 11pm... so it's a 12 hour bus ride... Thanks to my favorite neck pillow (the Johnny Rocketts freebie) (and thanks for the sexy crew for the dance performance @ JR's) anyway going back, it was my neck pillow and blue spiderman aska blanket (i always bring with me when i travel) kept me comfy for the long trip...

We finally arrived at Laoag City, the heat was scorching... grabe sobrang init... then i had second thoughts if makakapag sand boarding pa kmi nito sa sobrang init but were already here and there's no turning back this time since we've come from a very long way... we can't just turn back, not because of the  heat so sunblock is on the rescue... luckily i anticipated the situation... We head to Museo Ilocos Norte to meet our contact (the 4x4 ride that will take us to the sand dunes)... we took some shots while waiting  for manong...

After minutes of waiting he finally arrived... we jumped into his 4x4 truck and enjoyed the view around the city... its was mid-afternoon and the heat is penetrating to our skin but nonetheless it's all part of the experience...

From afar, we saw the desert cones and just when i realized that this place is real... the beauty of the desert of the north...

There's a lot more heat in the sand than in the air.. the sand is like a gold powder that glistens the whole of the la paz... it was really a unique experience... and you can see the beautiful south china sea othe other side. It was blue and real... the sky mirrors the sea. Everything i saw was beautiful...

After a famishing activity in the sand we went to the city proper for a very good treat... my friend LK brought us to the best place in the city... The Saramsam. the local cuisine... they have best pizza i have ever tasted...the Poqui-Poqui (talong) Pizza (grilled talong topped with fresh tomatoes and spices) tastes like ensalada and best served with bagoong...  the best seller the Saramsam Pasta with ensaladang talong, tomatoes, sweet mango and bagoong... sometimes served with chilli oil and a hearty garlic bread...and the Chorizo/Longganisa Pasta (mouth watery and meaty iloko longganiza and tomato sauce) were the specialty of the house...

The POQUI-POQUI Pizza (sounds like something i dont want to eat ;-) but tastes good at the first bite) hehe

The Saramsam Pasta - powdered cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, sweet mango, bagoong etc... sooo good!!!

Chorizo Pasta- so meaty... i enjoyed every mouthful...

So the food was great and it was about time to go home... took a bus ride to Vigan where we are going to spend the night and plan for the next trip... and see me on my next stop!!!

Thanks to Carla and LK for the yummy pictures in Saramsam... ;-)

Chapter 1.... the beginning!!!

At last my very first blog... Im not even sure where to start yet but before this i just want to tell you how it all started. I just arrived from Hong Kong and a friend (i met there) noticed me taking pictures of just about everything i see, without a doubt she approached me while in a store of goodies (one of our tour's stop over) and ask me if Im into blogging for she noticed that i can make a story out of my shots, taking pictures is one of the reasons why I always travel alot... if there's any way that i could show it to the world then that would probably be through blogs... I have been traveling since the year started and i would like you all to join me as we take a fancy ride back to the beginning... ;-)

you can add me up @ facebook andrie_ceejay@yahoo.com...
